I compared a GeoCities restore to a Wayback scrape of the same 1997 fan page, and the GeoCities one won
Last month I went down a rabbit hole trying to save a Sailor Moon fan page from 1997 that only had 400 visitors, and I pulled it two ways, one off a GeoCities mirror and one from a Wayback scrape. The Wayback version loaded way faster but the mirror had the original hit counter, the little spinning email icon, and a guestbook with 12 real names on it. Does anyone else keep a list of these tiny dead sites before they vanish, and if so how are you storing them?
