I finally looked up that weirdly specific website about lawn mower blade sharpening angles

Overheard two dudes at the hardware store arguing about 30 degrees versus 45 degrees for a rotary blade and after 20 minutes on that site I realize my grass has been torn not cut for the last 3 years, has anyone else been doing it wrong this whole time?

Wait, were you using a dull blade that whole time or did the wrong angle mess it up worse? I got a mulching blade on my rider that came pre-sharpened and I never thought to check the bevel.

Gotta wonder how many people are out there putting in hours of work with wrong tools and just assuming that's how it's supposed to feel. It's like the whole world is walking around with a dull knife and calling it good enough. You start using something that's actually set up right and it feels like cheating compared to all the frustration you put up with before. Bet there's a lot of stuff in my garage right now I haven't looked at twice because I just assumed it came ready to go.
