My buddy who runs a bait shop in Gulfport showed me his site and now I feel bad about every ugly page I ever sent him
We were killing time between orders and he pulled up his shop page on his phone and it's this thing from like 2004 with a hit counter and a pic of his dad holding a sheepshead, and I almost laughed until he said he gets 3 or 4 calls a month off it from guys who found it on some old fishing forum. He said he paid $150 for it once and never touched it since, and honestly the guestbook on it has posts from dudes planning trips around when the trout run. Now I'm sitting here thinking about all the slick new sites I've bookmarked that nobody has ever typed a word into. What's the oldest still working site you guys have in your saved folder? I want links, not just stories.

A hit counter and a sheepshead pic won't sell me on an old site being better, because most of those old pages are broken on a phone and a guy under 40 won't stick around to squint at them. Your buddy's page works because he's got regulars who already know him, and a forum thread feeding traffic, not because 2004 design is some magic trick. Slap that same look on a shop nobody has heard of and you get crickets.
