Spent 3 hours at the DMV in El Paso and the waiting room TV was stuck on a 2011 slideshow of license plate designs
I went to renew my license last Tuesday and the screen in the corner kept looping the same 40 slides of old plate mockups nobody ever picked. What got me was that people around me started ranking them out loud, and a guy next to me argued the bluebonnet one was robbed. Is there a whole corner of the web where people archive rejected state plate designs? I need to know if I'm the only one who now wants that site to exist.
That slideshow is just some state worker's forgotten PowerPoint from 2011, not a secret archive of rejected plates. Renewal offices everywhere run whatever junk is already loaded on the machine, and nobody bothers to update it. A whole website for turned down plate designs would be pretty dull anyway, since most are boring font swaps and bad color combos. The bluebonnet one probably lost for a real reason like being too busy to read from far away. The guy next to you was just bored out of his mind after three hours, same as everyone else in that room. What you actually want is a site about weird plates that did get made, like the ones with the tiny errors.
