That GeoCities page about traffic cones in Buffalo actually had 40 photos and a full history
Two sides here. I used to think sites like that were just jokes or link farms, but last week I clicked a bare bones page about traffic cones in Buffalo, NY that someone in this group shared, and it had 40 photos plus dates going back to 1987. My friend says old weird pages like that are just hoaxes and wasted clicks, but I checked the address and phone number on there and it matched a real public works yard. So which is it, are these tiny sites hidden gold or just noise? Has anyone else found one that turned out real?

Why do people always jump to "hoax" when they see something old and handmade online? Your friend is wrong here. That traffic cone page sounds like the real deal because somebody clearly cared enough to scan and date all those photos back to 1987, and a hoaxer wouldn't bother matching a real public works yard address and phone number. Weird little pages like that were made by bored city workers or local history buffs who just wanted to share what they knew, not trick anyone. Most of the internet used to look like that, plain and full of odd hobbies, and it stuck around because nobody had a reason to take it down.
