Hot take: I watered my snake plant once a month and it finally flowered
Everyone told me snake plants never bloom inside, so I quit babying mine and let it sit bone dry near a south window in Phoenix all summer. Last week it pushed out a stalk with tiny greenish flowers that smell like jasmine at night. Anyone else get a bloom out of sheer neglect, or did I just get lucky?
Loving the flower story but snake plants are actually CAM plants, meaning they open their stomata at night to take in CO2 and that's why the blooms smell stronger after dark, not just a coincidence. The neglect thing is real though, they bloom when they're root bound and stressed, so your "bad" care was basically the perfect trigger. One thing to check is that the flower stalk usually means the plant is putting out its last big push, so don't be shocked if that rosette slowly dies back after. It's not dying from neglect, it's just how they go out, one big finale. Phoenix heat plus a south window is like a snake plant spa, so you basically gave it ideal conditions without knowing it lol.
