I used to think talking to plants was silly, but my basil changed my mind

I was in my kitchen garden in Austin, and a whole section of my basil started wilting overnight. I started just talking to it while checking the soil, saying stuff like 'come on, you can do better,' and within two days it actually perked up. Has anyone else had a plant seem to respond to just being talked to, or did I just finally fix the drainage?

Honestly had the same thing happen with a sad looking rosemary plant. Just started telling it about my day while watering, nothing fancy. It's probably the extra carbon dioxide or something, but the new growth was pretty wild.

Heard something similar from my mom. She swears her tomatoes grow better when she complains about her neighbors to them.

@the_robin maybe plants just need some good gossip like the rest of us.
