Misting my orchids was a total disaster

Everyone says it keeps them HAPPY, but mine got covered in MOLD. I think we OVERRATE how much water they really need.

Misting was a total fail for me too, left water spots and rot. I switched to a small humidifier near my plant shelf and it made a huge difference. The air gets damp but the leaves stay dry, which they seem to love. Now I just water the roots and let the humidifier do the rest.

Is your home already pretty humid? I read an article that said misting can backfire if your air is damp, because the goal is raising humidity not wetting the leaves. They said putting the pot on a tray with wet pebbles works better.

Oh no, mold usually means the water sat on the leaves too long. Try misting only in the morning so it dries fast.
