My neighbor's prized orchid collection almost died because he insisted tap water was fine, but I argued our city water's chlorine level is too high.
After his Cattleya started showing leaf burn in Phoenix, I brought over a pH test kit showing our water at 8.2 and a gallon of distilled, asking if anyone else has saved plants by switching water sources.
