My 'rare' variegated monstera cutting turned out to be a painted leaf

I spent $75 online before realizing the white streaks were just acrylic paint that washed right off. Has anyone else gotten tricked by a fake plant listing?

My buddy got hit with the marker trick too. He was so mad he almost threw the whole plant out.

That's a brutal scam. Saw a video last week where someone bought a "variegated" philodendron and the pattern was just white marker. The plant market is wild right now. People get desperate for trendy stuff and sellers pull this crap. Always check the seller's history and ask for a video of the actual cutting under normal light.
