PSA: got told my pothos soil mix was drowning roots, and the fix was so simple
Three months ago I posted a pic of my pothos on here feeling pretty good about it, and one guy replied that the yellowing leaves meant my soil held way too much water and the roots were suffocating. At first I got defensive, but he was right, I was using straight potting soil from the big bag and watering every 5 days. I switched to a mix of about 60 percent soil, 30 percent perlite, and 10 percent orchid bark, and cut watering to every 10 to 12 days when the top 2 inches feel dry. Two months later the plant has pushed out four new leaves and the yellowing stopped completely. Honestly kind of annoyed it took a stranger on a forum to point out something that basic. Has anyone else had someone call out their soil mix and been glad they listened?
