Serious question, my fern is thriving under LED lights but my friend swears by natural window light

I think controlled lighting is better for growth, while she argues nothing beats sunlight. Who's right here?

Ever hear about my buddy Carl's fern experiment? He kept one under strong LED lights and another on his east-facing windowsill. The LED plant shot up quick but its leaves looked kinda washed out and fragile. The window fern took its time, but the color was this rich, deep green and the fronds felt tough. Now he uses the LEDs to add light on cloudy days but relies on the window for most of it. Makes you think the best setup might need a little of both, doesn't it?

Read an article about how plants use different parts of the sun's light. The red and blue from LEDs are great for fast growth, but the full spectrum from the sun does more. It helps build stronger cell walls and better color. That's probably why Carl's window fern felt tougher. Mixing both sources seems to cover all the bases.

Always thought full LEDs were best, but this changes things.
