That neighbor who told me to stop watering my succulents every week
Old Mrs. Garcia saw me drenching my jade plant and said 'you're killing it with kindness, honey.' Sure enough after I switched to once a month the thing doubled in size. Anybody else have an older gardener set them straight on something basic?

My neighbor Jim told me the same thing about my snake plant last year. I was watering it every Friday like clockwork and it was looking all sad and yellow. He said "stop drowning it" and now I barely touch it, just a little water every 6 weeks or so and it's huge and happy. Honestly I felt like an idiot but now I tell everyone the same thing.

Every six weeks though? That's wild to me. My neighbor didn't give me a schedule, she just laughed and said "maybe once a month if it looks thirsty." I bet your snake plant is loving that neglect though. Honestly I think we treat plants like they're dogs or something, like they need a meal every day. Meanwhile they're secretly little desert creatures that just want to be left alone.
