Am I the only one who thought the string line trick was a gimmick until it saved my whole wall in Tulsa
So a guy on my crew kept telling me to run a mason's string tight across the corners before laying anything and I brushed it off for like 3 jobs because I figured I could eyeball it fine. Then we did a 40 foot run on a garage off Sheridan in Tulsa and my courses were wandering almost half an inch by the end, which is a mess to fix. He set the string up in about 2 minutes, showed me where I was drifting, and it was dead on. Now I want to know how many of you actually still lay to a string or if you trust your eye on shorter walls.
Man, I heard a guy on a podcast say the same thing, that the string is the one tool nobody wants to bother with until it chews them up once. My old foreman swore by it on anything past 20 feet. Sounds like Tulsa was your wake up call.
