Had a homeowner in Denver ask me to lay bricks 'like a herringbone parquet floor' for his patio...
He brought out a photo from a fancy magazine, and I had to gently explain that a 4-inch brick and a 3/4-inch wood strip don't exactly work the same way. Anyone ever get a request that just made you stop and blink?

That "stop and blink" feeling is real. My buddy had a client who wanted a concrete driveway poured to look exactly like a marble countertop from a showroom. They brought in a tiny polished sample and asked for the same "veining and shine." He just stood there for a second trying to figure out how to explain the scale and the fact that it's a driveway.
