Ever deal with thick weeds on a path? @susan350, I had that last summer and just kept clearing it out regularly until it finally gave up.

Saw a thing online that said herringbone is basically the strongest pattern for brickwork. Something about how the bricks lock together and spread the weight around. Makes total sense why it would click for you, that pattern is a beast to lay but it's solid as a rock once it's down. All those angled joints just don't let anything shift. Kind of jealous you got it figured out, my last patio attempt was a wobbly mess.
