Took me 3 days to figure out why my corner bricks kept popping, and it was one dumb thing
Back in October I was laying a garden wall in a backyard out in Fair Oaks and every corner course kept popping loose about an hour after I set it. I figured it was my mortar mix, so I remixed three batches and it still happened. Next I blamed the brick, drove back to the yard, and had them pull a whole new pallet. Day three I finally sat and watched it and noticed the sun hit that corner around 2pm and cooked the mortar before it could grab. I started soaking the bricks in a bucket first and covering the wall with a wet burlap sack, and it never popped again. Wasted almost 20 hours chasing the wrong thing. Has anyone else had heat mess with their mortar like that, or am I the last guy to figure this out?
