Update: switched from a mortar hawk to a mortar board on a 900 brick job in Tulsa and I'm not going back
I used a hawk for 12 years and figured the board was for guys doing big commercial runs. Then a buddy on a 900 brick job in Tulsa handed me his board and I got 40 more brick laid by lunch without changing anything else. The hawk keeps you moving but it killed my wrist by 2pm, and the board just sits there loaded so I'm not bending to reload every 6 bricks. He says the hawk is faster on small patches and repairs, and honestly he might be right for that. I've got a porch rebuild coming up with tight corners and I'm torn on which one to grab. Anyone run a board on a small fussy job, or do you switch back to the hawk once the run gets short?
