Found a $7 bread machine at a yard sale in Akron, now I make my own loaves
I was digging through a pile of old small appliances last Saturday and spotted a dusty bread machine with a crumpled recipe booklet still in the box. Turns out the paddle was missing, but a 10 cent stainless bolt from the hardware bin fixed it perfectly and now I crank out a fresh loaf for about 80 cents in ingredients. Anyone else rescued a broken appliance from a yard sale and turned it into a money saver?

Always figured bread machines were junk, took up counter space and made bricks. Then grabbed a thrift store one for $8, missing the paddle too. Used a bent spoon handle as a replacement. It still makes a better loaf than the bakery down the street, and I'm out maybe 50 cents a loaf. Changed my whole view on rescue appliances.
