I finally fixed my fridge shelf with a $2 broom handle

After my plastic fridge shelf cracked last Tuesday, I cut a wooden broom handle to size and slid it under the glass as a support, and it has held perfectly for three straight days now even with a gallon of milk on top. Has anyone else used random hardware store stuff for fridge repairs?

Oh man, that's actually pretty clever. I remember hearing somewhere that those glass shelves are super expensive to replace so a broom handle hack makes total sense.

@kevin_sullivan is it really that much cheaper than just buying a new shelf? Broom handles are like five bucks but glass shelves can't be that bad. Curious if the broom handle actually holds up over time or if you end up replacing it just as often.
