Just realized I quit buying drain screens for my kitchen sink and started using a $1 mesh produce bag instead
For about 2 years I was paying $6 for a 3-pack of those little stainless drain screens at the grocery store in Reno, and they would clog up and rust out in like a month. Then my neighbor showed me you can just cut a square off a mesh produce bag (the kind onions come in), fold it over the drain, and it catches everything without slowing the water down at all. I swap it out every few days and one bag lasts me almost half a year. Has anyone tried this with the finer garlic bags or does that clog too fast?
Man I feel that pain, those stainless screens are such a ripoff and they never last more than a few weeks before theyre rusted and gross. Honestly the mesh bag trick is genius and I wish I had known about it before I blew so much money on the store ones. Let me know if the garlic bags work out, cause I might try those next since the onion ones do slow down a tiny bit for me.
