PSA: Stop throwing away your eggshells like I did for 27 years

I cracked 18 eggs for a quiche last Tuesday and almost tossed the shells before remembering my neighbor uses them for garden calcium. She grinds them up and mixes them right into the soil for free plant food. What cheap kitchen scraps have YOU been tossing that actually have a second life?

And grinding them fine before adding is key because bigger pieces just sit there and don't break down fast enough to help the plants. I started saving my coffee grounds too, just let them dry out first then sprinkle them around the base of my tomatoes and peppers. Between the shells and the grounds my garden soil went from sad to actually producing decent vegetables.
