The week my freezer broke and a $7 fix saved the day
Last month my fridge started making this awful grinding noise, and I panicked because I had a whole paychecks worth of food in there. Turned out the defrost timer was stuck, and a neighbor who fixes appliances pointed me to the part on eBay for $7 plus shipping. I swapped it in 20 minutes with a screwdriver and a YouTube video, and it's been quiet ever since. Anyone else had a cheap part save them from buying a new appliance?

Did you check the heating element too, mine was a $12 fix with the same grinding issue.
