TIL a $3 shower cap can save your car battery in winter

My neighbor in Duluth showed me this trick after my car wouldn't start for the second time this month. You just wrap a cheap shower cap around the battery terminals and it keeps the frost off overnight, plus it's worked for all 3 of my coworkers now. Anyone else got weird garage hacks that beat buying fancy parts?

My buddy Dave tried this in Minneapolis and his battery died anyway, so maybe it's just luck.
