TIL dryer sheets work as cheap mosquito repellent but there's a catch

So I live near Houston and the mosquitoes are brutal this year. I read online that dryer sheets keep them away so I taped a few around my patio. Worked great for like 20 minutes. Then I realized they were attracting wasps instead. Had two yellow jackets buzzing my chair. Learned my lesson - stick to the DEET stuff even if it costs more.

That citronella candle trick actually worked better for me. I got a couple of those tiki torch things and filled them with citronella oil for my backyard. Sure it smells like a cheap candle store out there but the mosquitoes stay away for hours. Plus the wasps don't seem to care about the smell at all which was my main worry. Just gotta refill them every few days.
