TIL I could fix my own leaky faucet for $8 instead of calling a plumber

I used to just call a plumber every time a faucet started dripping, which ran me about $150 a pop here in Austin. Last month my kitchen sink started that annoying drip-drip-drip at 2am and I decided to try fixing it myself after watching a 5 minute video. Found out the rubber washer inside had just worn down after 4 years of use, so I grabbed a $8 pack of assorted washers from the hardware store. Took me maybe 20 minutes with a crescent wrench and a flathead screwdriver to swap it out, and the drip stopped instantly. Now I'm kicking myself for not learning this sooner, since I've probably paid over $600 to plumbers for the exact same fix over the last 5 years. Anybody else got a simple plumbing fix they wish they'd learned earlier instead of paying a pro for?

The moment when you realize the solution was right in front of your face the whole time is brutal. @hollym12 I spent a good 20 minutes trying to force a lid on the wrong way before noticing the little arrow pointing where it actually goes. Felt like my brain was on a coffee break.
