Appreciation post: My bean soup went from bland to amazing after I started saving bacon grease
I used to just use water and a ham bone, but adding a tablespoon of saved grease from breakfast changed the whole flavor in under 30 minutes. Anyone else have a cheap 'secret' ingredient like that?

Just realized my entire cooking style is basically finding ways to sneak bacon fat into things... my green beans swim in it, my cornbread is fried in it, and I'm pretty sure I used it to fix a wobbly table leg once. That soup tip is the real deal though, turns a sad pot of water into something that tastes like it took all day.

The wobbly table leg fix got me. I can picture you in the kitchen, bacon grease jar in one hand and a loose table leg in the other. That's a level of dedication I've never seen. My grandma used it for her cast iron pan and that's about it. You might have invented a new form of household repair.
