Bulk rice vs. instant rice, my 6 month experiment is done

I used to buy those 90 second microwave rice bags because they were convenient. Last January I switched to a 20 pound bag of jasmine rice from the Asian market for $14. I cook it in a cheap rice cooker every Sunday and portion it out. Total cost per serving dropped from about $1.10 to maybe 15 cents. The texture is way better too, fluffier and not mushy. Has anyone else made this swap and noticed their grocery bill actually shrink?
