Found a $1.50 bag of chicken backs at the butcher and made 3 meals out of it
I stopped at the butcher shop on Clark St last Tuesday and saw they were selling bags of chicken backs for a buck fifty, which I'd never bothered with because I figured there was no meat on them. Took a bag home, simmered them with an onion and some carrot tops for about two hours, and ended up with almost 8 cups of stock that tasted way richer than the boxed stuff I usually grab. Then I picked the meat off the bones after straining, and there was honestly enough for two decent tacos plus a bowl of soup the next day. I'm not saying I'm some kind of kitchen genius now, but has anyone else messed with backs or necks from the butcher counter? Curious what else is cheap there that I've been walking past.
