Frozen veg vs fresh for stews - made me rethink everything
Used to always grab fresh carrots and celery for my Sunday stews. $4 a bag at the store near me. Switched to frozen last month after a tight week. Honestly, the texture is almost the same after two hours simmering. Saves me like $3 each time - anyone else ditch fresh for frozen in their cooking?

I gotta disagree a little. Frozen vegetables have that slight mush to them even after simmering, which just bugs me. Fresh carrots hold their shape way better and add that little crunch even after two hours. I tried frozen peas in a beef stew once and they basically dissolved into green sludge. I guess if you're on a tight budget it makes sense, but for me the texture difference is worth the extra few bucks.

Yeah but @faith_perez, frozen peas actually hold up fine if you toss them in RIGHT at the end.
