My grandma said to cook dried beans instead of canned to save money, and I finally tried it last week
She kept saying a $1.29 bag of pinto beans makes like 6 cups once you soak and cook them, which beats paying 89 cents for a single can that gives you maybe 1.5 cups. I soaked them overnight, tossed in a chopped onion and some garlic, and ended up with a huge pot of beans for less than 2 bucks total, plus I froze half for later. Does anyone have a trick for making them taste less plain, cause mine came out kinda boring even with salt?
