My struggle with cooking dry beans from scratch
I kept trying to make dried pinto beans for burritos but they were always crunchy after 3 hours. Took me 5 different tries over 2 months to figure out I needed to soak them overnight first. My grandma laughed when I told her, said everyone knew that trick back in her day. Now I soak them for at least 8 hours and they come out perfect in 90 minutes. Has anyone else had a simple cooking step that took way too long to learn?

Dang really, any difference in texture or is it just extra lazy mode?
