Pro tip: my $15 rice cooker from a yard sale finally gave up the ghost after 8 years, and I'm honestly not convinced a new one is worth the money.
I've been making do with just a pot on the stove for the last three weeks, and honestly, the rice is just as good and it frees up a whole chunk of counter space, so has anyone else ditched a single-use kitchen gadget and been happier for it?

Garlic presses are the worst, @faiths12 and I ditched my coffee maker years ago for a french press.

You're right about the rice being just as good. I got rid of my garlic press ages ago. It was a pain to clean and I can just chop garlic with a knife faster. Most of those gadgets are just extra things to wash.

Ugh, my garlic press is basically a fancy paperweight now.

Oh man, @faith_perez nailed it. I read somewhere that most people who own garlic presses use them like twice before they give up. Just smash the clove with the flat side of a knife, way less cleanup.
