Question about buying bulk dried beans vs canned for soup
I spent $8 on a 5 pound bag of dried pinto beans at the grocery last week, thinking it'd be way cheaper than canned. But after soaking them overnight and cooking for 2 hours, I realized I forgot to factor in the extra electricity and time. The texture was great for soup, but man, cleanup took forever because some stuck to the pot. Has anyone else found dried beans just aren't worth the hassle for weeknight meals?

Oh I feel you on the cleanup thing, that's the worst. What I started doing is making a big batch of beans in a slow cooker on a Sunday when I'm home anyway, no watching the pot. I got a 5 pound bag of black beans for $6 and they come out perfect every time with zero stuck on mess. Then I just portion them out into containers in the fridge and they're ready for soup or whatever all week. Saves me so much hassle versus doing it from scratch on a weeknight.

Slow cooker black beans are a game changer for real. I started doing a pound of pinto beans every Sunday and just throw in some onion and garlic powder, no soaking needed. They last me through the week for tacos and rice bowls and I never have to think about dinner.
