Why does nobody talk about buying day-old bread from the bakery outlet

Last month I noticed my local bread outlet in Denver sells loaves for 79 cents if they are baked that same morning but marked as day-old. I grabbed four loaves, froze three of them, and they taste exactly like the $3.50 ones from the grocery store. I use one for sandwiches and the others for French toast on weekends. Has anyone else found a good bakery outlet that is worth the drive?

Honestly, this kind of thing makes me realize how much we pay for convenience and pretty packaging instead of the actual product. The grocery store charges triple for the same loaf just because it's on a nicer shelf and baked a few hours earlier. It’s like the whole food system is built around making us forget that bread is just flour, water, and time. Once you spot that pattern, you start seeing it everywhere, like with "day old" pastries or dented cans at discount stores. Tbh, my freezer is half bread now, and I’d rather plan ahead for French toast than pay full price for the same thing. That 79 cent loaf is the real deal, and most people are just too stuck in the routine to notice.
