Booked a "budget" flight through a third party site and lost $180 when the airline changed the schedule
I booked a round trip from Detroit to Phoenix for $220 through one of those cheap flight finder sites. Sounded like a steal. Then the airline moved my return flight by 4 hours and the third party site wanted $50 just to talk to them about changing it. Took me 3 hours on hold and they said I had to go through the airline. Airline said nope, go through them. Ended up buying a separate one way ticket home for $180. How do normal people deal with these middleman sites without getting burned?

Three hours on hold just to get the runaround, that's brutal man.

Have you tried calling right when they open? That's the only way I've ever gotten through without waiting forever. I learned that trick after wasting way too many afternoons on hold myself.
