Found a $6 breakfast trick in Lisbon that beat every restaurant

Went to Lisbon last month and kept blowing money on tourist cafe food. On day 4, a local guy told me to hit the padarias before 9 AM instead. Grabbed a fresh pastel de nata and coffee for under 3 euros total. Same pastry was 4.50 at the corner spot near the tram stop. Anyone else found cheap bakery hacks in Europe that work better than the obvious spots?
