Stayed at a spot in Asakusa for 4 nights and the front desk sold cheap passes to use the guest kitchen, so I cooked rice and eggs for like $2 a meal while everyone else blew cash on tourist traps. Has anyone found other cities where hostel kitchens are open to non-guests for a small fee?
