Rant: the $28 airport shuttle in Lisbon broke down and taught me to skip the fancy transfer
Two weeks ago I landed in Lisbon at 11pm and the "cheap" shared shuttle I booked online broke down halfway to my hostel. The driver made us all get out on the side of a road near the airport roundabout and just stood there smoking while we waited 50 minutes for a replacement van. I had paid $28 for that ride and a taxi would have cost me around $15 split with two other travelers, which I know now because we all ended up piling into one at the curb. What got me was the company never refunded anyone, they just sent a copy paste email about "operational delays" and moved on. So here is my take: skip the pre-booked airport transfer and just walk to the taxi line or take the metro if it's still running. The van finally showed up, but by then I was so annoyed I tipped nothing and the driver glared at me the whole way. Has anyone gotten money back from one of these shuttle companies, or do you just eat the loss and move on?
