Shoutout to skipping airport lounges for budget trips
I mean, everyone says they're worth it, but I save so much by just finding a quiet gate area and using my own snacks. Maybe it's just me, but the free wifi and charging stations are enough.

My last trip out of San Francisco, I looked at a lounge pass that was $40. Instead, I spent $8 on a huge bottle of water and a sandwich from a place before security. Found a spot near Gate 47 with outlets and just watched Netflix for two hours. Felt pretty good knowing I just kept that extra $32 in my pocket for something actually fun at my destination. Tbh the main thing I wanted was a place to sit and charge my phone, and the gate area worked fine. That's probably the most clear cut money I've saved by avoiding the lounge.

Honestly those lounges feel overrated unless you're stuck on a long layover. Saw a guy pay $50 for lounge access just to get free crackers and soda, which is crazy. My move is bringing a travel mug of good coffee and watching planes from the gate. You save a ton and the regular terminal has better people watching anyway. What's the most you've ever saved by skipping the lounge?
