Weekend bus pass beat renting a car in Lisbon, hands down

I was in Lisbon last month for 4 days and almost dropped 80 euros a day on a rental. Instead I got the Viva Viagem card and loaded a 3 day transport pass for like 21 euros. Took the 28 tram, the metro, and even the bus out to Belem without any hassle. Has anyone else ditched the rental for public transit in a hilly city like that?
