Changed my mind about using cash envelopes. Thought it was old-school and annoying. Tried it for groceries in Atlanta last month, stuck $400 cash in an envelope, and actually spent $50 less than usual.

That $50 saved in Atlanta is real, man. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me when I tried cash envelopes for my gas budget in Dallas last year. Stuck $200 in an envelope for the month and somehow ended up with $30 left over, which never happened with my card. There's something about handing over those actual bills at the pump that just stings a little more than tapping a phone. Ngl, I felt dumb carrying envelopes at first, but my bank account didn't care about my pride. I'm glad you gave it a shot and it worked out, it's wild how much that old school trick still holds up.

Isn't it crazy how the old ways sometimes just work better? I had the same thought about cash being a hassle, but seeing the actual money leave your hand makes you stop and think twice. That mental shift is real, right? You're not just tapping a card and forgetting it. Maybe we all need a little more of that physical limit to keep spending in check.

Consider how cash forces you to plan ahead, @nathan_thompson62. You have to decide what you need before you even leave the house. That little bit of friction creates a budget without you even trying.
