Cut my grocery bill by 40% with one freezer trick

I was throwing away $80 a month in spoiled produce from my weekly stock-up at the H-E-B in San Antonio. Started freezing leftovers and bulk veggies on the same day I buy them instead of waiting till they go bad. Anyone else try this and see a big drop in your food waste?

Hold up though, I gotta disagree with the whole premise here. Freezing doesn't just change texture, it straight up kills a lot of the nutrients in veggies if you don't blanch them first, which nobody does. So you're basically eating mushy, less healthy food just to save a couple bucks. And @garcia.charles is right, the texture thing is real - frozen broccoli tastes like wet cardboard no matter what you do with it. Plus, you end up with a freezer full of mystery bags that you forget about until they're freezer burned anyway. The whole "buy fresh and freeze later" thing is just a way to make yourself feel better about buying too much stuff you don't actually need.

Man my freezer is basically a graveyard of good intentions. I keep telling myself I'll meal prep but instead I just have a freezer full of sad looking broccoli from three months ago that I'm too scared to defrost.

Heard freezing actually changes the texture of veggies, so you're not missing much lol.
