Cut my grocery bill from $740 to $460 a month by shopping at 3 stores instead of 1
I used to do one big run at the same store in Springfield every Sunday out of habit, and my total sat around $740 a month for our family of four. Then in January I started splitting the list, produce and staples at Aldi, meat at the butcher counter, and the rest at Kroger when it's on sale, and it dropped to $460. Yes it's 3 stops and my Saturdays are longer now, but is that worth it to you or does the extra driving kill the savings?
Man, that's a real tradeoff, giving up your whole Saturday to save almost $300 is no small thing and I get why you'd wonder if it's worth it. We did the two store thing for a while and honestly the driving and the extra stops wore me down more than I expected.
