Hot take: That 'free' budgeting app I downloaded ended up costing me $40 in hidden fees last month
Signed up for this app that promised to track my spending for free, but after 30 days of using it, I got hit with a $12 transaction fee for moving money between accounts without reading the fine print first - has anyone else gotten burned by these 'freemium' tools?

Always screenshot the terms before signing up so you can prove what they promised you.

Exactly, and that reminds me of this time I signed up for a free trial of some meal kit service, and I swear the fine print said you could cancel anytime. So I screenshot that part. Then three weeks later I'm getting charged for a full box I never ordered, and when I email them they point to some tiny clause about a 48 hour cancellation window. I sent back the screenshot and they kept arguing, but at least I had something to back me up. @kellymurphy is right, even if the terms change later you've still got that original proof. Saved me from paying for a bunch of kale I didn't want.
