I finally figured out that buying store brand spices instead of name brand saves me around $15 a month
I used to always grab the little McCormick jars but last month I tried the generic ones at Kroger and honestly the chili powder tastes exactly the same, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed a big difference with any specific spices?

I used to be a total snob about spices, thought generic had to be worse. But I grabbed the Aldi brand cinnamon on a whim and now I'm converted, it's just as good.

The real test is putting them side by side on a blind taste test. I did that with cumin and paprika from Aldi vs. the name brand stuff and honestly couldn't tell a difference. My wife actually picked the Aldi one as the better one in the cumin test, lol. The only spice I still spring for name brand is vanilla extract, but that's because I want the real stuff not imitation.
