I used to grab whatever coffee was on sale, now I buy green beans for $7 a pound and roast them in a popcorn popper
I started doing this about 4 months ago after a guy at the farmers market in Dayton told me I was paying $14 for beans that cost him $2 to grow, and now I spend maybe $35 a month on coffee instead of $90, so has anyone else tried roasting at home or am I the only one blowing smoke in my kitchen?
Man, this is the same thing that happened with bread and beer and gardens, where big companies convince us we can't do it ourselves so we just keep handing over our money. I mean once you see how cheap and easy the basic stuff really is, it's hard to go back to paying five times more for something you could make on your counter. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like half of adult life is slowly figuring out which things you were told you had to buy were never actually that hard to make.
