Shoutout to the spreadsheet that showed me my daily coffee habit

I tracked every single coffee shop run for 3 months and the total came to $187... that hurt to see. But then I calculated what it would cost to make good coffee at home and it was only $32 for the same amount. So is it really a win to save the money, or is the convenience worth the extra cost?

Did you factor in the time savings too, cause my $250 coffee habit was worth every penny for that.

@evanpalmer has a point about time but $250 is a different ballgame. That's like a whole car payment for coffee. The math only works if you're making pour overs or buying fancy beans. Most people just brew Folgers and it's still under $50 for months. That $187 number really depends on where you live too. Two bucks a day vs six bucks a day changes the whole calculation. If you're in bumfuck nowhere with cheap drip coffee the savings are way smaller. In a big city that $32 home cost might actually be for premium stuff. For me the real savings came from buying a grinder and doing whole beans. Tastes better than any chain shop and the bag lasts forever. But yeah if you hate washing dishes or waking up 10 minutes earlier the convenience tax is real.
