Spent $180 on a meal delivery kit subscription, then realized I was still buying groceries on top of it

Back in March I signed up for one of those meal kit services because a coworker wouldn't stop talking about it. I figured it would save me money since I was eating out like 4 nights a week. First box came, it was nice, portions were decent. But then I looked at my grocery receipts and I was still buying milk, eggs, bread, snacks, and stuff for lunches. So I was basically paying $180 a month for 12 dinners plus my normal $350 grocery bill. The math hit me when I found a half-eaten container of their weird dill sauce in my fridge that I forgot about. I canceled after the third week. Has anyone else fallen for the subscription math trap where you think you're replacing one cost but you're really just stacking it on another? What did you do to actually break the habit of buying extras?

Tbh I saw a finance blogger break this down once, basically said meal kits only work if you're replacing restaurants, not groceries. You basically doubled your food spending without realizing it.
