The $10 envelope system I laughed at actually changed my spending in 2 months.
I always thought the cash envelope method was too old school for my budgeting style. After overspending on takeout by like $200 in March, I decided to try it with just a food envelope. I literally took out $300 cash for groceries and eating out each week. By week three I stopped buying random snacks because I could see the cash disappearing. Did anyone else find that using actual money instead of cards makes you think twice before buying stuff?

The cash disappearing trick worked for me too, made me actually think before grabbing an overpriced coffee.

What is it about pulling out cash that makes your brain stop and actually think? @wyatt_chen86 I tried that envelope budget thing for a month and it was wild how fast I started questioning every single purchase. Like that five dollar latte suddenly felt like a big deal when I had to watch the physical bills leave my hand. The whole "out of sight out of mind" thing with cards is real. It's just so much easier to tap your phone and forget about it until the statement comes.
